Terms & Conditions

Version 2026-07-30 · Last updated August 2026

Overview

These Terms & Conditions govern your use of The Economic Club of Texas (“ECTX,” “we,” “us”) member portal at this site. By signing in with your email address, you agree to these terms.

Your agreement and when we ask again

We record the version of these Terms and the Cookie Policy you agreed to. You will not be asked to accept them again on future sign-ins unless we publish a material update, in which case you will be asked to review and accept the new version. The current version number is shown above.

Eligibility and accounts

The portal is intended for members, applicants, sponsors, and contacts of ECTX who are 18 or older. Accounts are personal to you: do not share your sign-in code or let anyone else access the portal using your email address. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account. We may suspend or remove access for misuse, non-payment, or conduct inconsistent with club standards.

Sign-in and distribution list

We use passwordless sign-in: when you enter your email, we send you a one-time sign-in code and a one-click sign-in link. By submitting your email you confirm that:

  • You are the owner of the email address you enter.
  • You consent to receive a sign-in code, and you agree to be added to The Economic Club of Texas distribution list to receive membership updates, event invitations, and related communications.
  • Sign-in codes are single-use and time-limited. Do not forward them; anyone with your code can access your account until it expires.
  • You can unsubscribe from distribution list emails at any time.

Membership, dues, and payments

Membership and sponsorship tiers, dues, and benefits are described on the Membership and Sponsorships pages and may change. Payments are processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers. Unless stated otherwise, dues are billed for a membership term, are non-refundable once the term begins, and renew per the terms shown at checkout. You may cancel future renewals from your billing settings or by contacting us.

Events, RSVPs, and recordings

RSVPs are required for most events and some events are limited to members in good standing. Seats may be capped, waitlisted, or cancelled, and event details (speaker, time, venue) may change. Some events are photographed or recorded; by attending you consent to your image, voice, and likeness appearing in ECTX photos, recordings, and promotional materials. Tell us in advance if you prefer to be excluded.

Member content and community conduct

Discussions, job postings, articles, photos, and profile details you submit remain yours, but you grant ECTX a non-exclusive license to host, display, and share them within the portal and in club communications. Submissions may be reviewed before they appear and may be edited or removed at our discretion. Do not post unlawful, harassing, misleading, confidential, or infringing content, and do not use the portal to solicit or spam other members.

Member directory

The member directory is provided for member-to-member networking only. You may not scrape, export, resell, or use directory information for bulk marketing, recruiting blasts, or any list-building purpose. You control what appears on your own profile.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the portal, attempt unauthorized access, probe or interfere with our systems, use automated scraping tools, or use it in violation of applicable law. Membership content is provided to members in good standing and may not be redistributed without permission.

Intellectual property

The ECTX name, logo, site design, and club-produced content (including event recordings and articles) are owned by ECTX or its licensors and are provided for your personal, non-commercial use as a member. Speaker presentations and recordings may not be downloaded, re-hosted, or shared outside the portal without written permission.

Privacy

We store your name, email addresses, professional details, membership and payment status, RSVP history, and any profile content or media you provide, in order to operate the portal, run events, and send you messages you have opted into. We do not sell your information. We retain member and contact records for as long as your relationship with ECTX continues and as needed for legal, accounting, and historical club records; you may request access, correction, or deletion of your data by emailing us, and we will honor requests except where we must retain records by law.

Service providers

We rely on trusted third parties to run the portal, including our hosting and database provider, our email delivery provider (for sign-in codes and club emails), and our payment processor. These providers process your information on our behalf under their own terms and security practices. They do not receive your information for their own advertising purposes.

Cookies & session storage

We use a small number of first-party cookies and browser storage entries strictly to operate the sign-in experience. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies, and we do not run cross-site behavioral advertising, so there is no “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted ads.

  • Authentication tokens. After you sign in with your emailed code, we store a secure session token in your browser so you don’t have to re-enter a code on every page.
  • “Stay signed in” preference. When the checkbox is checked (the default), the session token is kept in localStorage so you remain signed in across browser restarts. When unchecked, the token is kept in sessionStorage and is cleared as soon as you close the tab or window.
  • Consent record. We store the version of these Terms and the Cookie Policy you accepted, plus your dismissal of the cookie banner, so we don’t ask again until something changes.
  • Functional cookies. Standard cookies may be set by our hosting and security providers to protect the site (for example, to mitigate abuse and keep the service running reliably).

Because these cookies are strictly necessary to operate sign-in, we do not offer an opt-out toggle for them; declining them means the member portal cannot function. You can clear them at any time from your browser’s privacy settings, which will sign you out. We honor browser Global Privacy Control signals where applicable, and we do not use analytics or advertising trackers that would be affected by them.

Email communications

Transactional emails — sign-in codes, RSVP confirmations, receipts, and membership notices — are part of the service and are sent regardless of marketing preferences. Marketing and newsletter emails include an unsubscribe link, and opting out is honored across our email systems.

Disclaimers

The portal and its content are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. Views expressed by speakers, members, and contributors are their own and are not endorsed by ECTX. Nothing on this site is investment, legal, tax, or financial advice.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ECTX and its officers, directors, volunteers, and vendors are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the portal or attendance at events, and our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid to ECTX in the twelve months before the claim.

Termination

You may stop using the portal at any time and request account deletion. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms, lapsed membership, or conduct that harms the club or its members. Sections on intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, and governing law survive termination.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict of law rules, and any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Texas.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms and the Cookie Policy. When we make a material change, we will increase the version number above and ask you to accept the updated version the next time you sign in. Continued use after an update means you accept it.
